Weather and Beaches

The Ranch has its own climate and weather patterns that are even different than near by Santa Barbara. Being out on Point Conception is one of the main reasons the weather is so unique. Much of the the weather patterns of wind, fog, rain, and sun are created from the land mass that is Point Conception. Being tucked inside on the leeward side of the point, on the south facing shores, is what creates the dryer offshore wind conditions that tends to clear the skies and create an electricity in the air. Often, these drier offshore winds will blow out of the canyons to the sea, drive the fog off the coast, and leave the skies sunny and clear.
Hollister Ranch Weather

In the late spring and summer months the Ranch can be the only place in southern California that isn’t under the June gloom overcast skies. At night time, the skies are filled with more stars than any other area along the southern California coast. The weather is always changing. It feels more alive than others areas and at times it has a magical quality to it. The weather can change in a moment’s notice, like someone flipped a switch and turned on the warm, dry offshore winds to clear the skies and make it feel like a whole new day. When the vicious Santa Ana winds blow in southern California, the Ranch usually remains calm, quiet and warm. The weather at The Ranch can be unpredictable, but always intriguing and beautiful.
Hollister Ranch Beaches

When you own Hollister Ranch real estate you have access to the “Best Beaches in California” because they are south facing and are protected by Point Conception and the mountain range behind them. These beaches are warmer with offshore winds. With the Ranch being one of the true south facing coasts in California, it is more protected than most of the western facing beaches. As it was decades ago, the beaches remain undisturbed and natural. There are long open stretches of sandy beaches, tall bluffs, points and coves and rocky reefs that provide beautiful tide pools at the low tides. It is this part of the Ranch that attracts most of the owners.. It is one of the most precious assets of the HR association. The beach is commonly owned by all the owners of the associations and runs from the railroad track easements to the mean high tide along the beach. There are three-day use beach cabanas. The Cabanas are well equipped with lawn areas, large patios or decks, hot showers, picnic benches, barbeques and fire pits, sink and counter areas, bathrooms, changing areas and covered for shelter. These are perfect for family and friends to entertain from, have BBQ’s, picnics, meetings, hanging out in after a day on the beach or in the surf, and even weddings.
